Men's Cycling Shorts & Bib Shorts
Men's cycling shorts and bib shorts with a chamois shaped for men, from the LTD Cycle Bib for every ride to the Elite Cycle Bib with our PRO CARBON chamois and warm bib tights for winter. This page helps you choose the right leg length, explains straps, grippers and compression, shows what to wear when it gets cold and answers common questions.
Which leg length suits you?
Our men's shorts come in two leg lengths. Both end above the knee; the difference is how much of your thigh they cover.
| Inseam | Models | What it means on the bike |
|---|---|---|
| 9" (22.9 cm) | LTD Cycle Bib and LTD Exos Bib | The classic road length |
| 10" (25.4 cm) | Elite Cycle Bib, Elite Cycle Short and LTD Seamless Short | More coverage and muscle support without restricting movement |
The chamois in every model is shaped for the male anatomy, with padding where the saddle creates pressure and less friction where your legs move. The differences between our three chamois are explained on the cycling shorts page.
Straps, grippers and compression
- Bib straps: the LTD and Elite bibs have soft mesh straps. On the Elite and Seamless bibs they are made from engineered stretch mesh that adapts to your build.
- Leg grippers: the Elite and Seamless models have laser-cut leg openings with silicone grippers that hold without squeezing. The LTD bibs use a 70 mm wide Italian gripper.
- Compression: the LTD Exos Bib is made from Exos fabric, a high thread count compression fabric that supports circulation and your muscles on long, hard rides. Its diamond-plate embossing makes it more resistant to abrasion.
- Without straps: the men's cycling shorts have a waistband instead. The Elite Cycle Short is the one our own team rides on lunch rides.
When it gets cold
- Cool days: the Elite Cycle Thermo Bib with brushed-back fleece on the legs and a fleeced bib upper. Pair it with knee or leg warmers.
- Winter: the men's bib tights. The Elite Hallocore Thermal Bib Tight combines Hallocore fleece with a water-repellent outer layer and reflective details, and its chamois is built for rides over five hours.
Jerseys and jackets to go with them are on our page for men's cycling clothing.
Finding your size
- Zoot shorts are cut race fit, close to the body. If you are between two sizes or want less compression, choose the next size up.
- Check the fit in the riding position, not standing: the straps should lie flat without pulling on your shoulders, and the chamois should not crease.
- If the hem rolls up or the grippers leave deep marks, the shorts are too small.
FAQ
How long should men's cycling shorts be?
Most road shorts end a few centimetres above the knee. A 9" inseam is the classic length, a 10" inseam covers more of the thigh and gives more muscle support. Choose the length you find more comfortable; it does not affect the chamois.
Are compression bib shorts worth it?
On long and hard rides, many riders find that compression keeps their legs feeling fresher. If you mainly do shorter training rides, a standard bib such as the LTD Cycle Bib is enough.
Which men's cycling shorts are best for winter?
Below about 8 °C, bib tights with a fleece lining. The Elite Hallocore Thermal Bib Tight also repels light rain and has reflective details for dark mornings.
