Women's Tri Suits
Every Zoot women's tri suit is built on a women's pattern in sizes XS to 2XL, with the Athena fit for plus sizes. Below you will find which model suits your racing, which suits work with your own sports bra, what the Athena fit offers and answers to common questions.
Which women's tri suit suits your racing?
Every model below comes in women's sizes, and the links filter this page. Looking for a men's cut? You will find it on our page for men's tri suits.
- Getting started: Core and Core+ with a more forgiving fit, ideal for your first triathlon, and the Sprint Hyperglide for short races.
- Solid all-rounder: LTD in many limited designs, and Athena for plus sizes.
- Best value: Ultra P1, P1 Exos and P1 Bikini, tested by Ellie Salthouse among others, plus the Elite models for long distance.
- Maximum performance: Ultra P1x, our fastest women's triathlon suit. Its sleeve fabric was validated under race conditions by Holly Lawrence.
Built-in bra or bring your own?
Support is personal, which is why many Zoot women's suits are BYOB (bring your own bra): you combine the suit with the sports bra that fits you best.
- Core, Core+ and LTD are BYOB. The Core Tri Bra pairs well with the Core Sleeveless Racesuit.
- The LTD Sleeveless Full Zip has no internal bra, so the zip opens all the way down. That makes pit stops during the race easier.
- Your sports bra should give good support on the run and not chafe when wet. Test the combination in training before race day.
Athena: the plus-size fit
Athena is the LTD Aero racesuit in a cut for a fuller figure, developed with Team Zoot athletes. It comes in Athena S, M and L and keeps the race features: Italian Shield fabric, a 3/4-length cam lock zip for ventilation, textured sleeves and the Pro Carbon chamois for the aero position.
Open back, back zip or full zip?
- Open Back: a racerback for maximum shoulder freedom in the swim. Popular for short races.
- Back zip: a clean front and a snug fit, for example on the Sprint Hyperglide Backzip.
- Full zip: opens completely for ventilation and pit stops. The most practical choice for middle and long distance.
Women's sizes and fit
- Women's tri suits come in XS to 2XL; Athena in Athena S, M and L.
- Zoot race suits are cut race fit: snug like a second skin, without folds at the stomach or loose fabric on the arms.
- If you are between sizes or prefer less compression, choose the next size up.
FAQ
Which women's tri suit is best for beginners?
Core and Core+, because they are cut more forgivingly than our race suits and work for training as well as racing. The Sprint Hyperglide is a light option for short races.
What do women wear under a tri suit?
No underwear, because the chamois sits directly on the skin. With a BYOB suit, you wear your own sports bra underneath.
Which women's tri suit is best for long distance?
The Elite models and the Ultra P1x for racing, or an LTD Full Zip if you want a full-length zip for pit stops.
Do you wear a tri suit under a wetsuit?
Yes. You swim in your tri suit and take only the wetsuit off in transition. Matching models are on our page for women's triathlon wetsuits.
